MEET THE TEAM
Justin Burns
Justin comes from an extensive background in construction. He graduated from East Carolina University with a construction management degree and worked as a laborer and carpenter through college. His professional career began in Raleigh, NC with 5 years at the nation’s largest home builder, where he gained experience in value engineering and design principles.
Later, he was offered a position with a supplier that he worked closely with for years, Builders First Source. He assumed the role of Millwork Installation Manager for the Raleigh market until moving to Salida, CO in 2018. He then worked as a Project manager for Diesslin Structures until his departure to start JM Burns Construction in 2021.
Justin was once told by a former employer that owners should not like their project managers by the end of a project. This caused a dilemma; he truly believes building homes that enhance people’s lives and help create memories for families is a meaningful process; one that extends beyond one-sided financial gain.
Many of his clients have become and remain his friends. We all love and share this small community; the homes we create and the lives they impact, mean everything to us here at JM Burns Construction.

Margo Burns
Design Services & Accounting
Margo is the “M” in JM Burns’s construction. She is the organizational backbone of our company and the creative force behind many of the color and design selections that go into the homes we build.
Although she comes from a career in nursing, her roots are as the daughter of a professional artist. This unique blend of precision and creativity allows her to curate finishes that are both cost-effective and visually stunning, ensuring each project feels cohesive, timeless, and thoughtfully designed.
Mike Moore
Project Manager
Originally from California, Mike went to College in North Carolina at East Carolina University. Since graduating in 2012, Mike has spent the last 10 years as a Senior Project Manager working for several large commercial construction companies managing high-end multi-million-dollar projects.
Working closely with customers such as Pfizer, Bristol Myers Squibb, and many of the largest Universities throughout the country. After putting roots down in Chaffee County in 2023, he is passionate in helping others overcome the challenges that it takes to do the same.
Mike currently resides in Poncha Springs, CO with his wife and two young children.
